"Buong Pilipinas Naniniwala sa Akin" - Gary Alejano

Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano said he  will run for senator in the 2019 elections if his party decides so.

Alejano said the Magdalo party is currently discussing its participation in the upcoming elections.

"Kung 'yan ang... finally magdesisyon ang grupo, I have to abide by the decision of the group," Alejano said when asked by reporters in a phone interview if he is inclined to run for senator.

"Ang pinaglalaban ng grupo ay kasama rin ako diyan. Kailangan lamang magkaroon ng collegial decision at consultation dahil ang pinaglalaban dito ay hindi lang personal, ito ay collective na pinaglalaban," he said.

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV on Thursday said the Magdalo Executive Committee is currently discussing the extent of its participation in the 2019 elections.

They will, however, push Alejano to run for a position in the Senate.

Trillanes is already on his second and last term as senator and will not be able to seek reelection in the May 2019 midterm polls.

Alejano pointed out that all decisions of the Magdalo party is based on its advocacy.

"Lahat naman ng aming ginawa, katulad nung pagtakbo ni Senator Trillanes sa Senado at pagsali sa party-list sa Kongreso, lahat 'yan ay in pursuit sa adbokasiya na aming sinimulan," he said.

"Alam n'yo naman, nag-alsa tayo sa gobyerno, we want to influence policies for the greater benefit of the Filipinos," he added.

The lawmaker said that while his party lacks sufficient resources, it will not be a hindrance for them to win a seat in the Senate.

"Naniniwala kami na even with the menial resource, susuportahan pa rin tayo ng taumbayan at susuportahan din naman ng ibang leader sa local," he said.
