An Indonesian house helper died after her employers in Malaysia forced her to sleep outside on their car porch for more than a month. She passed away on Sunday, February 11, as per a story by Today Online.
Tenaganita, a group dedicated to protecting migrants from abuse, said the 21-year-old domestic helper identified as Adelina had been forced to sleep with her employer’s Rottweiler on the porch for over a month before she was found by rescuers.
As per SCMP, her rescuers – assistants to Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim – went on Saturday to the double-storey semi-detached house in Taman Kota Permai after being alerted by a journalist. They were told by a neighbor that the maid was abused by her employers for over a month.

“We arrived and saw her on the porch. She did not respond to us and just shook her head. We spoke to the neighbours, who told us they often heard the employer scolding her loudly from inside the house,” Por Cheng Han, one of the rescuers, said.
Por said the mother of the employer claimed they tried to take Adelina to a hospital but the maid refused.
The maid was brought by rescuers to Bukit Mertajam Hospital where she died.
